Marine Wing Support Squadron 371 Marines pound an H-connecting-mat into place at Auxiliary Airfield 2 March 3, 2010. The airfield’s taxiway and maintenance pad were replaced as part of the airfields annual recertification. The recertification will allow the airfield, which simulates the deck of a carrier ship, to function for another year as a place where aviation units can carry out carrier landing training. MWSS-371 is based at the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Ariz. The auxiliary airfield is located on the Barry M. Goldwater Range east of the station.
