Marine Wing Support Squadron 371 Marines lift a 110-pound mat at Auxiliary Airfield 2 March 3, 2010. Work on AUX-2 began March 1 and is scheduled for completion by the end of the month. The squadron began replacing matting in March to certify the airfield, which simulates the deck of a carrier ship, for another year of carrier landing training by aviation units. MWSS-371 is based at the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Ariz. The auxiliary airfield is located on the Barry M. Goldwater Range east of the station.
