Marine Attack Squadron 311 AV-8B Harriers land and taxi at the Auxiliary Airfield 2 in Yuma, Ariz., Jan. 25, 2010. AUX-2 is a replica of the deck of an amphibious assault ship, on which squadrons practice before working off of an actual ship at sea. The squadron started training at AUX-2 Jan. 26-28, 2010, in preparation for their carrier qualification aboard the USS Peleliu in February 2010. The squadron is scheduled to deploy to the Peleliu with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit in May 2010. Part of the squadron deployed to Japan with the 31st MEU in early January 2010.
