Sgt. Jared Leiss, a squad leader with 3rd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, counts the Marines in his squad as they board an MV-22 Osprey in a training area east of Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz., during an air assault exercise April 13, 2009. The Quincy, Ohio, native, along with approximately 490 other Marines, were air lifted to the Blue Mountain Airfield for a live-fire exercise and to secure the airfield. The Camp Lejeune, N.C., battalion is scheduled to conclude their training in Yuma with a battalion-sized helicopter-borne assault exercise in late April, the largest exercise of its type conducted in approximately 10 years.
