U.S. Marine Corps Sgt.Maj. Brian D. Olea, the outgoing sergeant major of Marine Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron (VMX) One, passes the sword during the VMX-1 Relief and Appointment Ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma Ariz., June 6, 2019. The Relief and Appointment ceremony is an honored product of the rich heritage of Naval tradition. The heart of the ceremony is the passing of the NCO Sword by the Activity Commander from the outgoing Sergeant Major to the new Sergeant Major which signifies the transfer of responsibility, accountability, and authority, from one individual to another.
