Over 150 Marine Attack Squadron 311 Marines returned May 13 to Marine Corps Air Station Yuma after a six month deployment aboard the USS Peleliu in support of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. The Tomcats deployed with AV-8B Harriers in support of the 15th MEUs flexible sea-based Marine Air Ground Task Force capable of conducting amphibious Operations, crisis response and limited contingency operations, to include enabling the introduction of follow-on forces, and, designated special operations, in order to support the theater requirements of Geographic Combatant Commanders.

The commanding officer of Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Col. Robert Kuckuk, helps a group of children from the Child Development Center plant flower and vegetable seeds in the soil, as part of an MCAS Yuma Earth Day activity on April 25. The event was a collaboration between MCAS Yuma's Environmental Department and the CDC as a part of the week-long Earth Day celebration for Marines and their families. The goal of the week was to raise awareness of sound environmental stewardship and to reaffirm MCAS Yuma's commitment to environmental compliance and protection.
