U.S. Marines stationed at MCAS Yuma demonstrated Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) capabilities, Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) techniques, the Obstacle Course, and the Combat Fitness Test (CFT). U.S. Marines and Sailors assigned to Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma's Search and Rescue (SAR) unit talk about the SAR unit's mission to non-commisioned officers (NCOs) from MCAS Yuma, Ariz., Feb. 7, 2019 as a part of "Operation Backbone." Operation Backbone is a quarterly unit exercise meant to strengthen the warrior's spirit in the non-commisioned officers (NCOs) and promote cohesion between them. The exercise consisted of a hike with the Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron (H&HS) commanding officer and acting sergeant major, several classes, and a warriors night. Classes included simulated room clearing training, terrain model training, improvised explosive devices (IED) training, and the Family Advocacy Program on station sent out a representative to talk to the NCOs about leadership.
