Newly promoted U.S. Marine Corps corporals assigned to Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma Headquarters & Headquarters Squadron (H&HS) received their blood stripes during a Blood Stripe Ceremony in front of the H&HS building May 3, 2018. The blood stripe honors the blood that was shed by Marine officers and noncommissioned officers (NCO) during the Battle of Chapultepec in 1847. The blood stripes are sewn on the trousers of NCOs, Staff NCOs, and officers in remembrance of those who courageously fought in the battle. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Two newly hired firefighters with Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma’s fire department conduct “New Hire Training” at the stations fire department training building aboard MCAS Yuma, Ariz., Tuesday, April 17, 2018. The training teaches new firefighters all the basic skills they need to be successful at their job. This includes: how to climb the ladder, basic EMS training, how to employ and use the fire hose, and rescue drags used for removing civilians from dangerous environments. U.S. Marines stationed on Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma, Ariz., volunteer with the Yuma Food Bank Wednesday, April 18, 2018. While volunteering for the Yuma Food Bank, the volunteers picked oranges and boxed the fruits for the food bank. Yuma Food Bank was one of the volunteer opportunities provided to Marines aboard MCAS Yuma during the "Days of Service" initiative; other opportunities included the Humane Society of Yuma, Saddles of Joy, and Old Souls Animal Farm. - U.S. Marines stationed on Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma, Ariz., volunteer with the Yuma Food Bank Wednesday, April 18, 2018.
