Approximately 125 military and civilian medical professionals from eight different nations attended an Exercise Cobra Gold 2015 sponsored medical symposium at the Lop Buri Inn Resort, Mueang Lop Buri District, Lop Buri Province, Thailand, from Feb. 16-17, 2015. Representatives from the different nations – which included Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, China, Singapore, India, Thailand and the U.S. - took turns discussing subjects from their respective fields and common health crises that pose a threat to the worldwide participants. They also participated in tabletop exercises, which brought the partner nations together to resolve simulated crises. Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz., held a change of command ceremony on the station’s parade field, Wednesday. Col. Robert Kuckuk relinquished his duty as the station’s commanding officer to Col. Ricardo Martinez. Kuckuk’s next assignment is to teach as a professor of naval science, Naval ROTC, Norwich University.

An evening colors ceremony was held aboard Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz., by non-commissioned officers with Marine Wing Support Squadron 371, Oct. 5 to honor veterans. The colors ceremony was in keeping with the spirit of the Committed and Engaged Leadership program, established by Major General Steven Busby; Third Marine Aircraft Wing’s commanding general. Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 121 (VMFA-121) has their redesignation ceremony at the newly built F-35B hangar at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Nov. 20. The squadron accepted the first operational F-35B in the world, ushering in a new era of Marine Aviation. The F-35B accomplishes the multi-role, fifth-generation capabilities needed across the full spectrum of military operations to deter potential adversaries and protect our nation and its interests. The F-35 can operate from amphibious warships, providing close air support to forward-deployed forces during any contingency. Standing up VMFA-121 is an important milestone for the Marine Corps and the Department of Defense as the F-35B expands from a testing and training aircraft towards full-scale tactical aviation operations.
