DRONE OPERATIONS PROHIBITED ON AND OVER MCAS YUMA PROPERTIES

YUMA, Arizona - Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma is issuing a public notice to remind
the community that the operation of all unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), commonly known as
“drones,” is strictly prohibited on and over all MCAS Yuma properties and training ranges.
This is enforced to ensure the safety of service members, protect critical military assets, and
maintain operational security. The policy is in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA) regulations and federal laws governing the security of military installations.

 

The prohibition applies to all UAS, regardless of size or purpose, and covers the following areas:

• MCAS Yuma main installation and airfield
• Cannon Air Defense Complex
• Barry M. Goldwater Range – West
• Chocolate Mountain Aerial Gunnery Range
• All areas identified as part of the “Yuma National Defense Area,” “ NDA 4,” or designated
as Restricted Areas.

 

Violators may be subject to civil penalties, including fines, and could face federal criminal charges.
The unmanned aircraft may also be confiscated and/or destroyed.
Please report any unauthorized UAS operation on MCAS Yuma properties to the Provost
Marshal’s Office at (928) 269-2204.
