Biography

Commanding Officer
Lt. Col. Matthew Dineen

Lieutenant Colonel Dineen is a native of Clayton, Ohio. He graduated Ohio Northern University with a BS in Biology and was commissioned via the Platoon Leaders program in May 2005.

Following graduation from The Basic School in May 2006, he was assigned to the Martial Arts Center of Excellence where he performed duties as a Martial Arts Instructor Trainer and Combat Water Safety Swimmer. After leaving Quantico, Second Lieutenant Dineen reported to flight school in Pensacola, FL and was designated a Naval Aviator in September of 2008.

In April of 2009, after completing FRS training in the CH-53E at HMHT-302, First Lieutenant Dineen reported to HMH-464, MCAS New River, NC. During his initial tour, Captain Dineen deployed in support of Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa (OEF), Operation Enduring Freedom 11.2, and with VMM-263(REIN) on the 22nd MEU and completed the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course.

Upon completion of duties at HMH-464, he departed MCAS New River for Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, VA and earned his Master of Military Studies through the Marine Corps University.

Following graduation in June of 2016, Major Dineen reported to the 2d Marine Division where he served as the Air Officer. In September of 2018, Major Dineen was re-assigned to MAG-29 with follow-on orders to HMH-366 as the squadron operations officer.

In July of 2020, he reported to MAWTS-1 where he served as the Tactical Air Control Party Department Head.

Lieutenant Colonel Dineen was subsequently assigned to II MEF in 2022, where he served the G-3 Air Officer and Air Center Officer-in-Charge.

Lieutenant Colonel Dineen’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (third award), Air Medal with Strike/Flight Numeral 4, the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal (second award), and the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
