IMPORTANT: REAL-ID Requirement for Access to Marine Corps Air Station Yuma

Starting 7 May 2025, all individuals seeking access to MCAS Yuma must meet the following identification requirements:

  • DOD issued Identification Card:
    • If you have a DOD issued Identification Card (i.e. CAC, Dependent ID, Retiree Identification Card, VA Benefits Card, DBIDS Card), you may use that for base access, and do not need to be in possession of a REAL-ID compliant identification card or driver’s license.
  • REAL-ID Compliant Identification:
    • A government issued passport
    • A driver’s license or identification card marked with a star (REAL-ID compliant) is required to gain access to the base.
  • No REAL-ID/federally issued identification?
    • If you don’t have a REAL-ID compliant ID, you must present a noncompliant REAL-ID driver’s license or identification card in conjunction with an alternate identity document, such as:
      • birth certificate with a raised seal
      • Social Security card
  • Non-REAL-ID IDs with Certain Markings:
    • IDs with markings such as “Not Valid for Federal Purposes” or “Federal Limits May Apply” are not accepted for base access without an alternate identity document.

Guidance for all personnel who wish to sponsor a foreign national (a person who is not a U.S. citizen) aboard MCAS Yuma.

Foreign nationals are not authorized access under the Trusted Traveler Program and must be properly sponsored, vetted, and approved prior to arrival.

Sponsors are responsible for ensuring their guests complete all required information within 10 business days in advance and present valid identification at the gate.

These measures help protect the installation, its residents, and mission readiness while ensuring that all visits are conducted safely and in accordance with DoW policy.

 

Step-by-Step Sponsoring Process

  1. Sponsor will submit required information to MCAS Yuma Pass and Registration within 10 business days prior to the visit to allow for required background adjudication. (MCAS_YUMA-Visitor_Access@usmc.mil)

  1. Background Check: The Pass and Registration staff will work with Marine Corps Intelligence Command who will conduct a background check on the visitor.
    1. The sponsor will be notified of the result.

 

  1. Report to Pass and Registration: Upon approval, the sponsor and visitor must report together to the MCAS Yuma Pass and Registration Office at the Main Gate.

 

  1. Issue Pass: The Pass and Registration office will verify the visitor’s original documents, register them in the ARES system and issue a temporary base access pass.

 

Key Sponsor Responsibilities:

  • You must be a U.S. citizen and an authorized DoD ID card holder.
  • You must submit the required information for your guest within 10 business days in advance of the visit.
  • You are required to accompany your guest to the Pass and Registration office to be issued a pass and must escort them at all times on base.
