1st Lt. Craig Bryan, executive officer of Company A, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, briefs his Marines on the plan of the day at the Camp Billy Machen desert warfare training facility in the Chocolate Mountain Aerial Gunnery Range in California Oct. 18, 2009. The Camp Lejeune, N.C.-based company spent the day running team live-fire ambush and reaction drills in conjunction with a series of classes, on topics ranging from call for fire to heavy machine guns. Company A spent three days at the camp, making use of its rocky, mountainous terrain to prepare for an upcoming deployment to Afghanistan early next year. Bryan, 25, is a native of Monte Vista, Colo.
