Master Sgt. Shawn Stevens (right), Marine Air Control Squadron 1 radar technician and native of Sequin, Wash., performs remidial action on his M-9 pistol during known-distance practice at the enhanced marksmanship program range on the Barry M. Goldwater Range located southeast of the air station Nov. 17. Marines were taught ways to perform remidial action on their weapons one-handed in case they are ever injured in a combat environment. Training lasted six days, preparing the MACS-1 security company Marines for a deployment to Iraq early next year. Training included both the M-9 and the M-16A2 service rifle. Marines firing on the EMP course trained for some of the conditions that they will encounter overseas.
