U.S. Marines participate in the Marine Air Control Squadron 1 Relief and Appointment ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz., March 13, 2019. The Relief and Appointment ceremony is an honored product of the rich heritage of Naval tradition. The heart of the ceremony is the passing of the organizational Non-commissioned officer (NCO) Sword by the Activity Commander from the outgoing Sergeant Major to the new Sergeant Major, which signifies the transfer of responsibility, accountability and authority, from one individual to another.
