Petty Officer 1st Class Randahl Benson, Branch Medical Clinic leading petty officer, pins the insignia of hospital corpsman on the collar of Petty Officer 2nd Class Denis Lawrence during a ceremony at the clinic Oct. 3 that officially recognized the merger of the dental technician rating with the hospital corpsman rating. Effective Oct. 1, all of the Navy?s roughly 3,000 dental technicians merged into the rate of hospital corpsman.
