The challenge, coordinated by Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS), offered participants the opportunity to compete for first, second, or third place in either a 5 mile run, 5 mile bike route, or both. The course included a "Blue Mile" which is typically the most difficult portion of the racing event being a silent mile. The "Blue Mile" honors and remembers all fallen heroes of the Military, Police, and Fire Department. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
