Staff Sgt. Joshua Hooten, air traffic controller, monitors the skies from the ATC tower at the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Ariz., April 8, 2009. By the end of the summer, station air traffic controllers like Hooten, will manage not only Yuma airspace, but also that of Twentynine Palms, Calif. The air station is also slated to take control of airspace for Naval Air Facility El Centro, Calif., as part of a radar regionalization program.
