Andrew Gough, son of Marine Attack Squadron 311 commanding officer Lt. Col. Michael Gough and Yuma, Ariz., Gila Ridge High School co-valedictorian, delivers a speech to his class during its graduation at Gila Ridge High School on April 28, 2010. The graduation, along with the graduations of Kofa High School and Yuma Catholic High School, was broadcast via the Web to VMA-311 Marines deployed with the 31st and 15th Marine Expeditionary Units. The broadcast was a combined effort between station personnel and local communications groups. “We’re treading new water,” said Elena McShane, station school liaison. “We know there are other schools in the country that are doing this, so why can’t Yuma?”
