U.S. Marine Corps Lt.Col. James C. Paxton, the commanding officer of Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma's Headquarters & Headquarters Squadron, leads non-commissioned officers (NCOs) in a hike during “Operation Backbone" in Yuma, Arizona, Oct. 25, 2019. Operation Backbone helps to strengthen the warrior spirit in NCOs and promote cohesion between the different units of MCAS Yuma. The exercise consisted of a five and a half mile hike, several classes, and closed with a warriors night dinner. Classes included simulated room clearing, a Search and Rescue (SAR) demonstration, and proper procedure when fitting a tourniquet. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Nicole Rogge)
