A competitor within the bike route participates in the first annual Telegraph Pass Challenge in Yuma, Ariz., Nov. 3, 2018. The challenge, coordinated by Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS), offered participants the opportunity to compete for first, second, or third place in either a 5 mile run, 5 mile bike route, or both. The course included a "Blue Mile" which is typically the most difficult portion of the racing event being a silent mile. The "Blue Mile" honors and remembers all fallen heroes of the Military, Police, and Fire Department. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
