Lance Cpl. Mark Ridoloso, left, and Lance Cpl. William Jahn, Marine Attack Squadron 311 powerline mechanics, take a moment to calm their seasick stomachs aboard the USS Peleliu as the ship begins to rock while it pulls away from the San Diego coastline Feb. 8, 2010. Approximately 10 pilots and 15 support and maintenance personnel participated in the exercise. The squadron practiced Harrier operations aboard the aircraft carrier from Feb. 8-11, including night flights, in preparation for the squadron’s upcoming deployment aboard the Peleliu with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit in May. “It’s a bit of a culture shock,” said Ridoloso, who had never been aboard a Navy ship before this. “When we first stepped onto the boat, I could feel it rocking, which made me kind of seasick, but I got used to it.”
