Base Services Department workers set pipes down in an overflowing water retention basin on the corner of Shaw Avenue and Quilter Street to drain the pool and retrieve a submerged vehicle at the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Ariz., Jan. 21, 2010. BSD began working early against the storm that dumped more than 2 inches of rain on Yuma by pumping out the excess rainwater to nearby retention basins and Meyer Park. Approximately 4.7 million gallons of water was pumped off station streets and parking lots, according to Jerry Deppen, station facilities maintenance manager.
