A Marine from Company A, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, spins a glow stick on a string to signal a CH-53 helicopter for pick up on the flight line at Fort Huachuca in Tucson, Ariz., during a long-distance night helicopter raid exercise Oct. 16, 2009. The company took off from Yuma in six CH-53s and two MV-22 Ospreys to seize an airfield and rescue an enemy defector and his family, as well as retrieve valuable communication equipment, at Fort Huachuca near Tucson, Ariz. The training was in preparation for the battalion’s upcoming deployment to Afghanistan in the spring of 2010.
