) Lance Cpl. Ryan Harvey, Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron weather observer and native of Refugio, Texas, takes the temperature from a thermometer attached to a water-soaked wick Sept. 23 in front of the Station Meteorological Oceanographic Command. The temperature reading from this thermometer is one of three numbers used to determine which physical training safety flag is flown on station. Station METOC Marines check these readings every hour to make sure those exercising on station are well informed throughout the day, as well as using the data to more accurately predict the weather.
