U.S. Marines and Sailors stationed on Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma participate in "Operation Backbone" in Yuma, Ariz., Feb. 7, 2019. Operation Backbone is a quarterly unit exercise meant to strengthen the warrior's spirit in the non-commisioned officers (NCOs) and promote cohesion between them. The exercise consisted of a hike with the Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron (H&HS) commanding officer and acting sergeant major, several classes, and a warriors night. Classes included simulated room clearing training, terrain model training, improvised explosive devices (IED) training, and the Family Advocacy Program on station sent out a representative to talk to the NCOs about leadership.
